You know I love Dollar Tree and you know I love a bargain, so in this post, I’m showing 20 Dollar Tree preschool must-haves. So many affordable options to check out if you want to do some fun learning activities at home with your preschool kids.

  1. Cut & Paste Worksheets – They are perfect to get that fine motor going. Cutting and gluing, getting those small little hands working. And the pages are reproducible, easy to make copies if you have several kids. Come in alphabet and numbers.
  2. Bulletin Board Cut-outs – Not because they are for bulletin boards, but because they have color recognition. In my store, there were vegetables of different colors. Fun for those lessons.
  3. Educational Spinners – In my house, their spinners are a huge hit. Ones for like “Butterfly Life-Cycle” can be found right there next to the bulletin board decor in the office aisle. I’ve seen them in clouds, colors, and more so keep your eyes peeled for them. A nice complement to a lesson and kids love them.
  4. Word Wheels – Speaking of spinning, word wheels! Good for word families and blends.
  5. Flash Cards – So many options at Dollar Tree! I’m sure you knew I was going to list them. There are ones for every kind of lesson, with and without character, get creative!
  6. Tweezers – These are the big ones, “Kids Jumbo Tweezers” in the lesson section, mentioned before with sensory bins. These are also a must for fine motor.
  7. Workbooks – Another I’m sure you assumed to be on this list, but there are so many. Lots of options for lessons, just make sure to check the worksheets inside. Dollar Tree sometimes has the same one with just different color covers.
  8. “Feed the Monster” Alphabet Game – One of our favorites and I continue to see it in stock. Stickers to match the letters the monsters are holding, it’s just really easy to use and cute.
  9. Crayola Craft Kits – Such a good value and the kids enjoy the hands-on lessons. Check your stores but we have done the Solar System Mobile Kit and the “Color the U.S.A.” ones. A little more difficult but a fun option, even for beginning recognition.
  10. Letter Strips – Great for working on sight words. The packages even list what words are in even pack. Check for the pocket charts, they are the right size to hold the words.
  11. Award Stickers – Another Purple Alphabet favorite, Award Stickers! I use these for even our summer reading. Just a cute and simple way to mark off when they are getting something done.
  12. Dry-Erase Pockets – Make worksheets reusable! Drop your worksheet in these and let your preschooler work on them with dry-erase markers. Erase and use it again. I love these.
  13. Containers – Activity trays and caddies in the office section are just perfect for holding all the supplies, lesson bits, and do-dads. And storage containers! Keep your lesson area easier to clean.
  14. “Foam Erase Block” – Like a giant dice, but you can label each side to fit your lesson. So versatile we use ours for a lot.
  15. Little Scissors – In the stationary section you can find scissors for the preschooler in mind.
  16. Crayola Art Supplies
  17. Dry-Erase Board & Markers – Lined and unlined boards, both are a must in my house. As for markers, I personally like the ones with the dry-erase erasers on top that they have. They also do have name-brand ones in the store.
  18. Colorforms Sets – Check also your toy section. I found there a fun Mr. Potato Head set, which was great for talking about emotions. There are a lot of options and styles so check behind them, don’t assume they are all the same on the rack. Very hands-on and great for creative learning.
  19. Talk Back Phone – If you are into learning the sounds of speech also look in the toy section for the “Talk Back Phone”. It’s great because you can hear yourself talk. A great speech tool.
  20. Books – Don’t skip the book section! Tons of different books. Board books, picture books, and level readers. Sticker books, activity books! Keep checking the selection is always changing.
